It’s easier than ever to use Bluetooth™ with your hearing aids to connect to your personal electronic devices and improve your listening experience.
Bluetooth technology uses high-frequency radio waves to transmit data between electronic devices wirelessly within a short range. It is safe, secure and used in many modern electronic devices such as smartphones, computers, and televisions.
Bluetooth offers two radio options, Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Most hearing aids use BLE to reduce power consumption while still providing high-quality sound.
How to Connect
A lot of hearing aids have apps that allow you to connect directly to your smartphone or other device. However, if that’s not an option for you, you can use compatible assistive listening devices called streamers.
Your hearing aids can be paired with the streamer, and then the streamer is paired with your other devices like your smartphone or tablet. After everything is connected, the streamer can pick up the Bluetooth signal from your phone or tablet and send it to your hearing aid using either an FM signal or electromagnetic field.
Bluetooth Benefits
- High-quality sound. Bluetooth signals are stable. This means your audio won’t cut out while streaming. Because sound is streaming directly to your earpiece, it also reduces the likelihood of feedback.
- Easier to listen to music. By streaming music directly into your device your hearing aids can double as wireless earbuds. This means a better listening experience without the hassle of headphones.
- Phone conversations are clearer. Don’t worry about struggling to hear the person on the other end of the line.Streaming allows you to hear phone conversations in both ears and provides a much clearer sound. You also avoid problems such as feedback or distorted sound from holding your phone too close to your ear.
- Personalized listening. Focus on the sounds you really want to hear.Streaming can be amplified and customized to match your hearing aids’ settings and it can help cut down on background noise as well.
